About Steve Sturgill
My love of photography began when I moved to Arizona in 1999. You learn to truly appreciate the beauty of nature when you are surrounded by the spectacular scenery in Sedona, Monument Valley, The Grand Canyon and Saguaro National Park. I recall purchasing a Canon Rebel before my first trip to the Grand Canyon. My hope was to take a part of this incredible wonder of nature home with me.
As with most artists, I was influenced by many of the great photographers of yesterday and today. Among them are, Ansel Adams, Thomas Mangelsen, and Peter Lik. Each of these artists have the incredible ability to replicate the beauty of nature through their camera. This is what I strive for – to bring you as close as possible to the feeling of actually being there.
Moving back to the Midwest in 2003, along with a trip to Italy, helped me realize that there is natural beauty in every corner of the world and that we must take the time to appreciate it. I hope that these photos encourage you to get out and see this beautiful world that we live in.
